WALTHER trays and boxes: automatically good

In an automated warehouse, many things happen all by themselves: transport of trays and boxes on independently operating conveyor lines, erecting and folding of containers by robots, box cleaning in automatic washing systems. Everything has to match perfectly. Just as WALTHER boxes have to.

WALTHER trays meet three basic requirements: the right size, the right load capacity, and the seamless fit into automated processes. Today, WALTHER trays can be found in almost every automated food retailing distribution centre throughout Europe.
To make the vast number of different packages to be moved controllable by gripper and transport systems, trays employed need to meet three simple requirements: everything must fit inside, they have to carry a lot of weight, and integrate precisely into the highly complicated machinery of automatic picking.
Trays developed by WALTHER Faltsysteme easily meet these demands. Yet, our specialists offer more: even conductive trays for the electronics sector or trays withstanding temperatures of up to -27 degrees Celsius in deep-freeze warehouses are a walkover.
According to these special requirements, we develop trays manufactured either by injection moulding or in deep-drawing processes. From a range of available forms existing trays may be adapted or rebuilt, depending on the application.

A large retailer was looking for a folding box measuring 600 x 400 x 285 mm for particular use in their new, fully automated distribution centres. The boxes were as well supposed to have an auto-ID system for identification in the automatic system.
The newly developed WALTHER container has a special running tread bottom for smoothness on the conveyor. For returns from the branch stores, the box can be folded and thus be reduced by more than 75% in volume, achieving a stack height of only 55 mm when empty. The front sides of the containers have special flaps for robots to mesh and automatically unfold the boxes.
