1. Telecommunications – folding boxes for more efficiency

WALTHER folding boxes have made picking clearly more effective for a Scandinavian telecommunications manufacturer after setting up an automated distribution centre and switching to reusable containers.
In addition to rigid plastic boxes for parts storage, folding boxes were chosen for efficient order picking and distribution of goods to customers. Industrial containers (600 x 400 x 320 mm (66-L) and 400 x 300 x 220 mm (22-L)) are now used to pick goods from cardboards and rigid boxes, the hinged lids closed, the containers labelled with shipping addresses and then directed to an appropriate exit of the shipping department by a DISTRISORTER system.
These measures resulted in a more efficient processing of orders, a faster response time, an optimal use of storage space and a stock reduced by 20%. In addition, the ergonomic quality of jobs has been significantly improved.

2. HVAC – standardisation of system suppliers

A leader in the field of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems had decided to outsource parts of the production and was now faced with the challenge of transporting individual manufacturing modules between different plants.
The requirement was that a reusable system be established. WALTHER Faltsysteme found a correct and fast operating solution. Suitable industrial containers were created by modification of the proven Hybox.
This step was just the beginning of our customer’s logistics evolution: a new loading and unloading system was developed which now simplifies the handling of heavy modules. Not only has disposable packaging been replaced by reusable boxes: smart detail solutions have also made the customer’s process flow a lot more efficient.
This new system has been continuously expanded by innovative internal compartments, by heavy-duty workpiece carriers, as well as by an additional number of purpose-built industrial containers. WALTHER Faltsysteme have clearly improved the customer’s entire logistics processes.

AAnother customer was simply fed up with dirty wooden or metal foldable collars with chips or protruding metal grills causing injuries and the cargo having to be put into its own protective packaging. Wood and metal were to be replaced by hygienic and safe plastic.
The new height of the pallet frame was set at 800 mm, with a predetermined weight of 20 kg. It was supposed to bear up to 1,000 kg and to stand securely and with no additional fixing on a wooden Euro pallet. As well, another pallet was to be easily stacked above the first. Generously sized access flaps completed the list of desired features.
Taking up this challenge, we offered our customer an industrial container that is only 13 cm high when folded. Our deep-drawn frame only weighs 19.5 kg, is highly resistant and suitable for hundreds of cycles. The customer’s staff were stunned: why had they been enduring the heavy and dangerous metal frames for so many years?

4. Interior: into the box - out of the box

Often, goods to be transported do not fit well into reusable boxes. WALTHER inner packagings make a change, providing that goods come out of the box exactly as they got in. The solution lies in inner packagings dividing the space inside an industry container by creating individual compartments for the packaged goods. This creates transport safety, as well as an optimal packing density. No limits are set to adaptability with a range from simple, shelf-like interior separation up to specially adapted, multiple individual packages for valuable electronic components. Needless to say that our inner compartments are as reducible and returnable as our containers are.
The materials used depend on the requirements of the goods. Textiles are employed to conserve surfaces, smooth plastics for high hygienic requirements and solid trays for heavy loads.

Many of our proven folding boxes can be resized to your shipment pieces. Goods filling the transport box completely will save you expensive “air transport”. Profit from our expertise in plastics processing. We have no problem adjusting height spacer rings to the height of your goods with millimetre precision. We will also adapt basic dimensions of the ground, pallet, and lid to the goods’ or trucks’ dimensions. It goes without saying that we offer customized interiors for industry containers as well.

6. Hygiena - picking of kitchen components

The largest kitchen manufacturer and distributor in France needed a customized reusable packaging to transport prefabricated furniture components between central warehouse and branches. The new packaging was to replace the previously used wooden carriers that turned to costly waste after reaching the branches. The customer was largely able to transport all dimensions of kitchen furniture parts with an industrial container from the mega pack range in a standard size of 1,500 x 1,200 mm. Three different levels of support rings helped to cover small, medium, and large containers and commissions.
The customer has thus implemented several benefits in the supply chain: in the central warehouse, the furniture parts are easily picked on the pallet, the available space being optimally exploited as there are no impeding walls. Checks for completeness are now easily performed, mistakes avoided. Locks in the pallet and lid make strapping of the pallet redundant after erecting the outer walls. Total transport damage and incorrect deliveries were significantly reduced. In addition, the use of RFID labels allows for continuous tracking and tracing of goods.
