Plastic containers with tradition

Tradition does not mean that we have manufactured our containers for more than 30 years in the same way.Tradition for us means competence, commitment to innovation and responsibility for our work.
As a family company from the Lower Rhine, we stand for our personal respsonsibility towards our customers. And as a medium sized company, we are always close to the market. We are aware of new developments in the plastics sector and we see how the modern container logistics developed.

1978

Discovered by the Engineer Rolf F. Walther during a business trip to Japan a "Japanese" version of a collapsible plastic container. Inspired by this, he developed in collaboration with an injection molding company, the first folding box made of plastic (polypropylene) for the European market with the basic size of 600mm x 400mm having a height of 310mm and a useable volume of 60 litres.
1979

WALTHER Faltsysteme GmbH established by Rolf Walther at the Mülheim / Ruhr site
1980

Registration of the brand "WALTHER folding box". The folding box is shown for the first time at the Hanover Fair
1982

With the appointment of Thomas Wiederer as a Sales Manager the systematic marketing of the folding box-idea in Germany and Europe begins
1983

More Folding box versions and completion of initial large orders from the retail and automotive industry
1985

Introduction of the so-called Warehouse-shipping tower for the retail chains. On a mobile base in basic the dimension 800x600 mm (half Euro pallet) different folding box sizes can be picked very flexible with different products and then rolled from the central warehouse to the shelves of stores
1990

The product range now includes more than 35 folding box variants
1991

Aquisition of larger premises in Kevelaer on the Lower Rhine and thus establishing a second factory next to Mülheim / Ruhr
1992

WALTHER Faltsysteme is expanding its dealer network to all western and northern European Countries
1994

Rolf Walther retires as managing partner, his son Dipl.-Kfm. Thomas Walther is appointed as sole manager
1996

Certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001, today the certification applies to DIN EN ISO 9001/2008
1997

Development of a foldable large container program under the brand name Mega-Pack-System, which extends the range of volume reducing transport containers based around the footprint dimensions of 800x600mm, 1200x800mm and 1200x1000 mm
1999

The Hybox 1200 x 800 mm is introduced as a foldable pallet box for food packaging and use in hygienically sensitive areas
2000

Introduction of the online shops www.boxline.de, here more than 2,000 storage and transport containers made of plastic are offered for industry, trade and commerce
2001

Launch of a new generation of folding boxes, with optimized hinges and tooling technology which carries both higher Payloads and stacking capability
2002

The Hybox family will be extended by the ISO Dimension 1200 mm x 1000 mm, thus creating new markets in both the automotive and wafer / semiconductor industry
2004

Relocation to Kevelaer. With the strong growth the factory area is continuously expanded in the following years
2005

With the introduction of the take-back obligation for non-returnable bottles WALTHER Faltsysteme has developed an extensive system of collection containers for both automated and stand-alone applications
2007

Introduction of PET Pack collection program for the reduction of PET bottles in co-operation with the major producers of returnable packaging vending machines
2009

Development of an innovative pallet folding frame (M-folding frame) made from plastic for the Migros / CH - Commissioned by a German discounter to supply 4.5 million foldable fruit and vegetable containers to establish an own multi-pool system. Start of rental pools under the name logrent for reusable pallet boxes
2010

The success story in the retail sector continues - WALTHER Faltsysteme supplies the largest logistics project in Scandinavia with innovative, collapsible reusable boxes
2011

-WALTHER Faltsysteme aquires one of its renowned main participating suppliers Formex GmbH - www.formex.de
2012

A milestone is reached once again: for a top-LEH-Concern hundreds of thousands of foldable containers are produced for the first time from certified recycled material of the trademark© procyclen manufactured by Interseroh. Sustainability and green logistics are our daily business at WALTHER Faltsysteme in 2014 .
2013

Development of a new retail-folding container with a special bottom intended for use in fully-automated warehouses and in-Mould Labelling
2014

Certification according to
DIN EN ISO 14001 environmental management and
ISO 50001 energy management.
2015

WALTHER opens a new logistics center covering a storage area of 2,500 m²
2016

Introduction of a new plastic half pallet in the Austrian retail trade
